ENDORSE HARRISON.
A Largely Attended Convention of Colored Men at Jackson, Miss.
JACKSON, Miss., June 13. - A conference of colored men held here to-day was very largely attended. Forty-seven counties in the state were represented. The personnel was good and the deliberations gave evidence of marked improvement for the race. The Hon. John P. Lynch, chairman of the Committee on Resolutions, made a report, which was adopted. It denounces in strong terms the methods resorted to to keep the Democracy in power in the South; expresses the hope that the election of Mr. Harrison and the passage of a national election law, which is earnestly advocated, may prove a new and important era in the progress of the South; favors the enactment of some such measure as the Blair bill and the bill to reimburse the depositors of the Freedmen's bank; declares the railroad bill, passed by the last legislature, which provides for equal but separate accommodations for colored and whites, to be a species of class legislation which was intended to humiliate and degrade respectable and intelligent colored passengers. President Harrison's course is strongly endorsed.
