A COLORED CONVENTION.

President Harrison's Course Heartily Indorsed.

Jackson (Miss.), June 13.--[By - [By the Associated Press.] A conference of colored men was held here today. Forty-seven counties in the State were represented. The object of the meeting was the the general betterment of the colored race politically and otherwise throughout the Southern States.

Resolutions were adopted expressing the hope that the election of Harrison and the passage of a national election law which is now being advocated will prove an important era in the progress of the South. They favor the Blair Bill and declare the Railroad Bill passed by the last Legislature which provides for separate accommodations for colored and white people is a species of class legislation, intended to degrade intelligent colored passengers. President Harrison's course is strongly indorsed, and the resolutions declare that he has unmistakably demonstrated to the satisfaction of the country and the colored people that the efforts of a few short-sighted persons who introduced caste prejudices into the Republican party have not and will not receive any countenance or encouragement from this Administration.
