Colored Editors' Convention. The National (colored) Press Convention will meet at Atlantic City, N. J., on August 3. There are 150 papers published in the United States in the special interest of the colored people, including four in Missouri, each one each appearing at St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield and St. Joseph. The majority of the delegates will come from the South and Southwestern States, and it has been arranged for them to call at St. Louis, en route for the East. They will remain in the city two or three days, and will be entertained by P. H. Murray, of the St. Louis Advance. At the Convention papers will be read on a variety of of appropriate topics, including "The Religions Education and Social Status of the Colored People," " "Industrial Education," "The Labor Question," and "Negro Journalism." Mr. Murray has been commissioned to prepare a plan for the establishment of a central industrial school for boys and girls of color. It is proposed to maintain the school by a general assessment on colored people holding lucrative appointments in the United States, or are who are assessed at over [unclear] $ 3,000. The consensus of opinion is decidedly in favor of the school being erected in St. Louis.
