A CONVENTION of colored men of Ohio, having for its object the preparation of a plan for erecting a monument to the memory of John Brown, met in Columbus last Thursday. Rev. James Poindexter, of Cincinnati, was made chairman. Opinion was divided as to the proper course to pursue, whether the colored people of the State should endeavor to build a monument or memorial hall, or whether an effort should be made to arouse national interest in the matter. Finally the committee on plans was continued, with instructions to correspond and endeavor to arouse the interest of the people, and at the proper time issue a a call for a national convention.
