ADVICE GRATIS - Horace Greeley, who, among other prominent men, was invited to be present at the convention of colored people of North Carolina, to be held at Raleigh on the 29th instant, has declined the invitation, giving a previous engagement as an excuse, through the columns of the Tribune, since he has no address to which he can send a letter. His reply is divided in the writer's well well-known style into heads, under which the following rules for the self self-government of the negroes are elaborated: "be hopeful;" "be patient;" "be peaceful;" "be diligent;" "respect yourselves;" and "stay where you belong.' The advice is, on the whole, not bad.
